TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential candidate number 01 Ma'ruf Amin explained the performance and achievement of President Joko Widodo or Jokowi administration. Ma’ruf said that his running mate had built a base for 'takeoff'.
“If we do not choose Jokowi, we will lose because we have to start it all over again, building the basis,” said Ma’ruf Thursday, March 21 in a meeting with National Ulama Santri Network (JKSN) and community alliances of East Kalimantan in Balikpapan.
Ma’ruf opined that the principle that the government had been built would not be useless should Jokowi re-elected in the upcoming presidential election. The country’s infrastructure would be developed, and human resources would be strengthened.
The former supreme leader of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) said that the people could only ‘take off’ later.
Ma'ruf, who is also NU’s advisory board, continued to outline Jokowi’s concrete successful programs, such as Smart Indonesian Card (KIP), Health Indonesian Card (KIS), and Family Hope Program (PKH).
“Pak Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla (Vice President) have built the base, and that will be maximized in the next period,” said Ma’ruf.
Jokowi, he added, also showed his concern towards Islam. For example, the president had developed the microcredit bank or Bank Wakaf Mikro (BWM). “Jokowi has done so much for Islam,” Ma'ruf Amin noted.
