Indonesian Citizen Died in New Zealand Mosque Shootings

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Indonesian citizen named Muhammad Abdul Hamid, one of the victims of New Zealand mosque shootings, is reportedly died.

According to the press release of Indonesian foreign affairs ministry, Al Noor Mosque management announced the death of Muhammad Abdul Hamid alias Lilik Abdul Hamid this afternoon New Zealand time.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi immediately contacted Abdul Hamid's wife, Nina, after hearing the news. "Minister Retno sent Indonesian Government's deep condolence toward the late Abdul Hamid," as stated in the press release.

Minister Retno also mentioned that the government, through the Indonesian Embassy, would provide the required assistance and companion.

Thus far, seven Indonesian nationals were reportedly present at the two mosques during the incident. Four are survived, two are injured and currently under treatment, and one died.

The two attacked mosques were the Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Islamic Center—both located in Christchurch, New Zealand. The latest reported death toll reached 49
