GoJek, Astra Form Joint Venture to Develop Go-Car

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gojek Indonesia and Astra International formed a joint venture, after Gojek received $100 million (Rp1.4 trillion) investment from Astra, to develop GoJek's four-wheel raid-hailing business, Go-Car.
“The armada management will be supported by Astra Fleet Management System (FMS),” GoJek Vice President Corporate Communications, Kristy Nelwan, said in a press release received by Tempo Wednesday, March 6, in Jakarta.
Astra FMS is a product launched by Astra's subsidiary; Serasi Autoraya (SERA), on February 1 this year. Based on its official website, Astra FMS provides a comprehensive solution in managing digital-based transportation.
Through this product, SERA supports other companies to improve efficiency and security in managing vehicle, driver, and even cargo. SERA will provide several services, such as monitoring the vehicle condition in real time.
Kristy added that through the venture, Go-Car drivers will get access to Astra FMS to improve the quality of their vehicles.
Gojek Chief Executive Officer and Founder Nadiem Makarim said that the entrepreneurs should totally reap benefit from the digital economy potential in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia. One of which is by combining the power of each industry.
Nadiem hoped the collaboration between Gojek Indonesia and Astra in the technology industry could open a bigger opportunity for the community to earn income in order to improve the economy.
