TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Retired major general Kivlan Zen responded the statement of Coordinating Minister for Political, Law, and Security Affairs Wiranto who challenging him to conduct a ghost oath (sumpah pocong) in light of the mastermind behind Indonesia’s 1998 mass-riot. Kivlan said that he preferred to hold a debate rather than the oath.

“Write this on Tempo, I challenge him to a debate. Does he dare to? Don’t take a ghost oath, that’s a satanic oath. Take an oath in the name of God, as a warrior's oath,” said Kivlan when contacted Tuesday, February 26.

Kivlan also suspected Wiranto for playing a double role and propaganda issue during his serving as the Indonesian military which was at the time known as ABRI.

Upon the accusation, Wiranto openly challenged presidential candidate number 02 Prabowo Subianto and Kivlan Zen to prove their allegations regarding the mastermind behind the 1998 mass-riot by taking a ghost oath.
