TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Residents of Bekasi complained about large potholes on Jalan K.H. Noer Ali, also known to local residents as Jalan Kalimalang on South Bekasi. The road serves as the main connecting lane to Jakarta. The ruined road inevitably resulted in traffic jams.

"[The road] has been [ruined] for a while, but because it was neglected, it gets worse," said Deni, a resident of South Bekasi on Friday, February 8, 2019. Deni also hoped that the government can immediately repair the road.

Bekasi Deputy Mayor Tri Ardhianto, requested the people to be patient because currently, the government is making efforts to repair the road. "For Kalimalang road, we asked the assistance of the Becakayu toll road contractor," Tri explained.

Tri said that Becakayu toll road contractor, PT KKDM, had requested for a six-day period to repair the road. In the near future, the road will be repaired by applying layers of concrete, which will make it resistant to erosion. "The currently ruined road was [constructed] using asphalt, so it can easily dissolve if exposed to water," Tri said.

In overall, Tri stated that around 40 percent of roads in Bekasi are ruined. The local government has installed signs on dangerous areas while waiting for repairs from the Bina Marga Water Resource Agency.

Therefore, Tri asked the public to be patient because efforts to repair the roads are being carried out by the respective institution. Tri promised that permanent repairs will be carried out during the dry season. "Road repairs during rainy season will not be effective," Tri said.
