Prabowo Camp: Govt Constructions a Burden for State Budget

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Prabowo Subianto’s national campaign team (BPN) Suhendra Ratu thinks that the infrastructure constructions under the Joko ”Jokowi” Widodo administration are far from being efficient.
Suhendra mentioned the Light Rail Transit (LRT) construction in Palembang as a burden to the state budget.
“Up to this day, the LRT Palembang’s generated income is far from the intended target. The government is forced to spend Rp10 billion per month on operational costs alone, while it can only manage to earn Rp1 billion. There’s a gap of Rp9 billion that must be subsidized until how long?” said Suhendra yesterday.
He continued to question the function of the LRT itself in Palembang that was closely linked to the 2018 Asian Games and was orbited to help succeed the sporting event.
Meanwhile, political and economic practitioner Salamuddin Daeng said the government infrastructure projects which are inefficient and funded by foreign debt shows the government’s intent to develop and build for foreign interests.
