TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Anti-graft agency KPK demands 8 years of imprisonment for Eni Maulani Saragih, the former deputy of DPR's Energy Commission. KPK prosecutors believe there is sufficient evidence that Eni committed an act of corruption in the form of bribery in the Riau 1 power plant project.

The KPK also demands Eni to pay a fine of Rp300 million, substitutable with four months of additional jail time.

Prosecutors also demanded that she paid Rp10.35 billion and Sin$40,000 replacement money and have her political rights revoked for 5 years after she is released.

"KPK prosecutor Lie Setiyawan said Eni was proven to have accepted Rp4.75 billion from business magnate Johannes Budisutrisno Kotjo in exchange for a meeting between Kotjo and the people with authorities over the Riau 1 power plant project, including PLN president director Sofyan Basir.

According to KPK prosecutors, Eni accepted Rp5.6 billion and Sin$40,000 in total. Eni, a politician from Golkar Party, received the money for facilitating meetings between businessmen and ministry officials.

During the hearing on Wednesday, prosecutors named four businessmen who allegedly gave Eni Saragih the money; PT Smelting director Prihadi Santoso (Rp250mn), PT One Connect Indonesia (OCI) director Herwin Tanuwidjaja (Sin$40,000 and Rp100mn), PT Borneo Lumbung Energi & Metal owner Samin Tan (Rp5bn), and the president director of PT Isargas, Iswan Ibrahim (Rp250mn).
