TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA announced that the first presidential debate did not significantly affect the electability of incumbent Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin and challenger Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno.

“The survey we did after the presidential debate shows no significant changes in terms of their electability,” said LSI Denny JA researcher Adjie Alfaraby at the LSI headquarters on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

He said that 50.6 percent of the people watching the debate were potential voters while voters that did not watch the debate amounted to 46.7 percent, and 2.7 percent did not provide an answer.

Out of that number, 5.8 percent people that watched the debate felt a change of choice is needed. Meanwhile, 82.1 percent of them that watched the debate felt undeterred about their choice.

“This means that 2.9 percent of the population that either watched the debate or not will change their presidential preference,” said Adjie Alfaraby.

The LSI Denny JA researcher explained that both presidential and vice presidential candidates are equally stagnant in terms of electability growth compared to before the presidential debate was held.
