TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan cooperates with the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) to find solutions to water problems in Jakarta. The cooperation is set out in a memorandum of understanding signed on Monday, January 21.

"I invite our friends at IPB to look at the problem that we are facing in Jakarta," Anies said at City Hall, Central Jakarta.

Anies said drinking water and clean water are one of the main problems in Jakarta. He is worried that water problems can threaten the capital's sustainability.

He hopes that through this collaboration, IPB can implement its latest scientific technology in alleviating problems in Jakarta. According to Anies, IPB has become the most important place in the development of agricultural and environmental technology.

Some of water related matters agreed upon by the two parties in the MoU include hydrological research, water management, waste management, plans to build the Ali Sadikin Maritime Center and sea farming (cultivation) in the Thousand Islands.

Through the cooperation, Anies Baswedan also hopes they can map out the water problems in Jakarta and reveal it to the public, so the people can have more awareness to water issues in the capital.
