TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kominfo) diverted a budget of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) amounted to Rp109.3 billion to establish training for 20,000 digital talents in Indonesia. The budget shift has been granted by the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission 1.
“We need digital talents. Money is not a problem. [But] administration requires the approval of Commission 1 of the DPR,” said Minister Rudiantara in the meeting office of DPR Commission 1, Central Jakarta, January 16.
The ministry redirected the budget for the management of Resources and Equipment of Post (SDPPI Directorate General) program worth Rp153.4 billion and the establishment project of Post and Information Technology (PPI Directorate General) valued Rp30.8 billion.
From the two programs, the ministry allocated Rp109 billion to develop digital talents and the certification.
“[We] shift [the budget] for refocusing. Litbang (Research and Development) initially gets Rp263 billion, but we need additional funds Rp100 billion to develop and train digital talents,” said Rudiantara.
Meanwhile, the rest of the budget shift worth Rp75 billion is set for Directorate General of Public Communication Information (IKP) to support the establishment of the General Election.
“We will encourage the public to participate in the election by running a dissemination with General Election Commission (KPU) and Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu),” Rudiantara concluded.
