TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced the winner of its School Superhero Comic Contest was South Sulawesi student Rizka Raisa Fatimah Ramli, aged 17, with her interpretation of a superhero who can take action against violence in and around schools.

Rizka’s superhero is a 15-year old female student named Cipta who relentlessly strived to suppress violence at schools through the medium of drawing.

The character of Cipta was described eloquently on the UNICEF website;

“She gives her sketchbook to children who are afraid to speak up. In it, they can draw or write the object they want her to create and control. She draws and then spreads ‘sketch-birds’ across the community for children to write down their problems and send a message to her and whoever they would like.”

Rizka’s Cipta successfully prevailed over 3,600 superheroes that were sent by children worldwide. Cipta will live on in a comic book form throughout 100,000 of schools across the globe. The teen was inspired to keep drawing by someone and hoped her drawing can inspire someone else, too.

“I planned to create Cipta with a concept of fighting silence with silence.” Says Rizka.
