TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution announced the government's plan upon inviting Malaysia and Thailand to discuss the current low rubber prices and the strategies that will be able to stabilize them.

"There are things that need to be talked about with the two countries to adjust its prices accordingly to supply and demand. Why has it dropped despite an oversupply," said Darmin Nasution at his office on Thursday, January 11, 2019.

The government has conducted communication with Thailand's government and entrepreneur associations. Darmin hoped that such meeting can result in starteges to improve rubber prices. One of the possibilities, as Darmin explained would be to increase the use of rubber.

Another strategy he thought of is to add rubber into the raw material upon making asphalt, however he understands that it would need to be done correctly under a thorough study.
