Prabowo Camp Denies Links to Hoax Spreader Bagus Bawana

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno Volunteer Director Deputy Ferry Juliantono strongly denies accusations linking his campaign team to the suspect of spreading a political hoax, Bagus Bawana Putra.
“[Bagus] is not one of our volunteers, I already checked and he’s not listed,” said Ferry to Tempo on Wednesday, January 9.
Public information suggests that Bagus Bawana is the Prabowo – Sandiaga national coalition (Kornas) board chairman. However, police have yet officially confirmed the political status of Bagus who was arrested by police criminal investigation division’s cyber directorate in Sragen, Central Java on January 7.

Upon his arrest, police said that Bagus intended to flee and destroy pieces of evidence incriminating him to the spread of the hoax. There were three people acting as the hoax’s ‘buzzer’ who were apprehended by police but were not detained.
The hoax itself led people to believe that there were seven containers filled with pre-casted electoral ballots at the Tanjung Priok harbor. The General Election Commission (KPU) immediately found that the information was a blatant lie after conducting thorough field checks.
