TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The joint evacuation team will install 10 CCTV cameras at a number of spots on the Pandeglang coast to monitor refugees of the Sunda Strait tsunami evacuating to the mountain.
“We want to monitor refugees on the mountain,” said 0601 Military District Commander Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Fitriana Nur Heru Wibawa during a coordination meeting at the integrated post of tsunami disaster relief in Labuan, Friday, December 28.
Some of the Pandeglang residents who are worried about the second tsunami choose to evacuate to the mountain.
“I am sure that the residents of Tanjung Lesung also feel traumatized and frightened so they are more comfortable evacuate to the mountain,” Heru said.
According to Heru, the CCTV cameras can be installed in operator towers or BTS. The monitoring will be carried out by the Banten Police at Wira Hotel, Carita Sub-district.
“The CCTV cameras can directly monitor the refugees on the mountain, to reduce casualties,” he said.
The Pandeglang Regent Irna Narulita indeed instructed the residents to evacuate to the hills and mountains.
“We have evacuated the residents to the hills and mountains because BMKG has increased the status of Mount Anak Krakatau,” she said when met at her office on Friday, December 28.
Irna said several big-sized refugee tents had been set up and was equipped with public kitchens. The medical teams were also deployed there.
The number of refugees of the Sunda Strait tsunami in Pandeglang is around 28,000 people.
