TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Sunda Strait tsunami did not only affect the people around Tanjung Lesung, Banten. Those in Bandar Lampung also affected by the natural disaster.
The head of Lampung province social service, Sumarju Saeni noted, on Sunday night, December 23, there were 2,500 Lampung residents who had evacuated to the Lampung governor’s office.
“It is definitely possible to increase if the situation worsens,” Sumarju Saeni said in Bandar Lampung, on Monday, December 24, early morning.
Most people, according to him, chose to evacuate because they feared the seawater would rise again due to the tsunami and it would hit the settlements.

Lampung governor M Ridho Ficardo expected residents to remain to evacuate in high and far areas from the coast until the condition is safe.
“People are asked to remain vigilant and careful because the tsunami disaster can come at any time,” said Ridho Ficardo, in Kalianda, South Lampung, Sunday night.
The Earthquake and Tsunami Center of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated the high tide due to the weather and the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau the cause of the Sunda Strait tsunami. Until now, 222 people have been declared dead.
