3 Unique Spots in Mount Wilis, Madiun

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The tourist areas on the slopes of Mount Wilis are spread in several cities. One of the options is in the Madiun area. The tourist attractions around Mount Wilis are spread in Kare Sub-district, Dagangan, and Wungu.

Check out three interesting spots you can enjoy on the slopes of Mount Wilis:

1. Nongko Ijo Tourism Forest

Nongko Ijo Tourism Forest is located at Perhutani area; it's about an hour drive from the downtown of Madiun City. In this place, tourists can enjoy the view of the cool pine forest or tubing on the Catur River.

There are also unique and interesting photo spots, including tree houses and swings. You can also pick cocoa and cloves during the harvest season.

2. Kandangan Coffee Plantation

In Kare Sub-district, there is a coffee plantation inherited from the Dutch colonial, which was founded in 1911. The area is quite extensive, almost along the slopes of Mount Wilis to the border of Ponorogo Regency.

Tourists can do a historical tour in this location since it used to be the guerrilla route of General Sudirman and the traces of the nation’s struggle against the Netherlands, which is marked by the Monuments of Mobile Brigade Sakip and Sanali. There are also villas, for those who want to enjoy the plantation atmosphere longer.

3. Waterfall

As a mountainous area, a lot of waterfalls spread around Mount Wilis, including in Madiun and Kediri. There are at least 5 waterfalls that are often visited by climbers and tourists if they enter from Madiun.

In Kare Sub-district, Madiun, there is Seweru waterfall in Kare village, Denu waterfall in Kepel village, Seloaji waterfall in Randualas village, Coban Kromo waterfall in Bodag village, and Banyu Lawe waterfall in Kepel village.
