TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thousands of Persija Jakarta fans, popularly known as The Jakmania, filled Merdeka Selatan Street in front of Jakarta's City Hall in Central Jakarta on Saturday, December 15, 2018, which marks the official parade commemorating the football club's win in the 2018 Liga 1.
"Long live Persija! Long live Persija!," chanted thousands of Jakmanias that took to the streets. The fans came from areas all across the city to gather at City Hall as its meeting point.
The highly-festive parade was initiated by the Jakarta Provincial Government to celebrate Persija Jakarta's win in the prestigious Liga 1 2018 competition. Persija won against Mitra Kukar in the final round, scoring 2-0 the final match on Sunday last week.
The parade was accompanied by Police's road escort and patrol unit (Patwal), which escorted the Jakmania's "U16 Persija" bus that carried the Liga 1 trophy together with the team's management, club members, and players.
