TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The campaign team of presidential and vice presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno would be announced on September 20.
“Professionals who do not have other responsibilities will fill in the campaign team,” said Sandiaga Uno at the basketball field in Youth and Sports Ministry complex, Central Jakarta, Saturday, September 8.
According to Sandi, Prabowo suggested those who are still on duty, such as Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan or other regional heads, would not participate in the campaign team as to focus on their respective administrations.
Sandiaga Uno said the regional administrators were expected not to be influenced by the presidential race next year because, he added, they were elected by their people to develop the regions.
“We don’t want to be separated, but united to develop the regions,” said the former deputy governor of Jakarta.
He further pinned hope the regional heads carried out by the party coalition of Prabowo-Sandiaga would focus on the regions. “Even if they request for a leave, it will disturb their work rhythm,” Sandiaga added.
Sandiaga Uno claimed he had gone through the situation and so preferred to quit as Jakarta deputy governor rather than demanding a leave despite able for the chance.
Meanwhile, the names to be campaign team chief of Prabowo-Sandiaga pair has shortened to one figure, Djoko Santoso who was the former commander of National Armed Force (TNI).
“Pak Djoko has a network, leadership, and good ties. We hope Pak Djoko can help us, energic, and welcomed by all political parties,” Sandiaga Uno said.
