TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Traffic Police Directorate have planned traffic engineering for Tuesday’s May Day in a bid to ensure traffic comfort during rallies.

“Of course, given tomorrow’s rally, we will carry out traffic engineering,” Jakarta Traffic Police director Sr. Comr. Yusuf told Tempo on Monday, April 30, 2018.

Yusuf said at around the State Palace area and the U.S. Embassy, traffic from Jl. Hayam Wuruk to Jl. Majapahit would be rerouted to the left side of Jl. Juanda, while that from Jl. Lapangan Banteng to Jl. Veteran would be redirected to the right side of Jl. Pos.

“While from Jl. Gunung Sahari to Jl. Dr. Sutoyo, we will redirect traffic straight to Jl. Senen Raya, and the opposite traffic from Jl. Senen Raya to Jl. Budi Utomo will be straight to Jl Gunung Sahari,” Yusuf said.

He went on to explain traffic from Jl. Medan Merdeka Timur to Jl. Medan Merdeka Utara would be redirected to Jl. Perwira, and that of Simpang Lima Senen to Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital would be taken to Jl. Senen Raya-Wahidin.

Vehicles from Jl. Cikini Raya heading to Jl. M. Ridwan Rais will be asked to go to the right side of Jl. Kwitang Raya, and those from Jl. Kwitang Raya will be told to make a U-turn. Traffic from Jl. Kebon Sirih will be redirected to Jl. Kwitang Raya.

Traffic from Jl. Jenderal Sudirman to Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat will be rerouted to Jl. Kebon Sirih, and that from Jl. Abdul Muis will be led straight to Jl. Harmoni. Vehicles from Jl. Abdul Muis to Jl. Museum will be redirected to Jl. Fachrudin, and vice versa.
