Top 5 Indonesian Universities in the 2017 UI GreenMetric Ranking

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Five Indonesian universities made it to the world’s top 100 greenest campuses in the 2017 UI GreenMetric World University Ranking held by Universitas Indonesia (UI).

This year, the UI GreenMetric was participated by 619 universities from 76 countries. The results were officially announced on Monday, December 11, at UI’s campus in Depok that was witnessed by State and University Officials.

According to the UI GreenMetric website, the ranking is an initiative of Universitas Indonesia which was launched in 2010. Their aim is to provide the result of an online survey regarding the current condition and policies related to Green Campus and Sustainability in the Universities all over the world.

Year-after-year, world universities have shown their enthusiasm to participate, which can be seen by the increased amount of universities participating. This year, there are 619 universities listed in the ranking compared to 516 universities in 2016.

Here are the five Indonesian Universities that made it to the top 100 UI GreenMetric Ranking in 2017 and their positions in the worldwide ranking.

1. UNIVERSITAS INDONESIA / University of Indonesia (23)

2. INTITUT PERTANIAN BOGOR / Bogor Agricultural University (52)

3. INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI SEPULUH NOPEMBER / Sepuluh November Technology Institute (57)

4. UNIVERSITAS NEGERI SEMARANG / Semarang State University (84)

5. UNIVERSITAS SEBELAS MARET / Eleven March University (95)
