TEMPO.CO, Medan - Golkar senior politician Akbar Tanjung suggested Golkar Party’s central executive board to hold extraordinary national congress (Munaslub) in regard to the legal status of Golkar Party chairman Setya Novanto.
"The most effective measure with the highest legitimation and effective is by means of national congress," Akbar said in Medanon Saturday (19/11).
Akbar stated that it is imperative for Golkar Party central executive board to take measures to anticipate the impact of the legal status of Novanto as a suspect in e-ID graft case to the party’s electability.
The deputy chairman of Golkar Disciplinary Board revealed the result of a survey indicating that the party’s electability dropped as much as 6 percent.
"What I’m concerned about is when the electability rate is less than 4 percent, Golkar will not have any representatives in the House since it is lower than the threshold," said the former Home Minister.
Akbar stated that Golkar has to replace Novanto with a leader free of any legal issues. In addition, the leader should come up with a new theme without any personal agendas.
