TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Hundreds of domestic and international skydivers are currently gathering at the 2017 Jogjakarta International Airshow (JIAS). 62 of the foreign skydivers that participated were from Malaysia, Philippine, Canada, Russia, Thailand, Norway, France, United States, Belgium, and Germany.
“JIAS this year is quite different than the past events. It used to only be called Jogja Airshow (JAS) with local participants. But since it’s international now, we were able to bring in athletes from 10 countries,” says the Commander of Adisutjipto airbase, Marshal Novyan Samyoga, on Wednesday, April 26.
The closing attraction of the event will take place at Depok beach in Bantul later on Sunday, April 30. Around 40 out of 100 skydivers will form a seven second mid-air formation thousands of feet over the beach during their free-fall.
The opening of JIAS yesterday broke a number of national records such as the simultaneous flight of 1,000 OHLG and the formation of 30 jumpers forming a big formation.
JIAS 2017 features, the obvious, skydiving attractions, microlight aircrafts, aero modeling, chuck gilder mass-flight, solo aerobatic ptts 2c, Jupiter display, Pegasus helicopter aerobatic team, paragliding festival, and many more.
