TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) invited Prof. Gerard‘t Hooft, who shared a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1999 with Martinus J.G. Veltman, to give speeches at the International Conference on Mathematics and Natural Sciences (ICMNS), which will be held on November 2 and November 3, 2016 in ITB, and will be attended by scientists in various fields.
"[Gerard't Hooft's] visit to the ITB will be aimed at educating general public about physics and inspiring Indonesian students to develop science and technology," ITB professor Djoko Santoso told a press conference on Monday, October 31, 2016.
Djoko explained that Prof. Hooft will give three public lectures. The first lecture will be on challenges in physics research and physics education on November 1, 2016 at ITB’s CRCS Building.
The second lecture will be held on November 2 at ITB’s West Hall titled "Standard Model and Beyond", while the final and third lecture is scheduled for November 4 at ITB’s Sasana Budaya Ganesha, which will adopt the theme "Grand Public Lecture: A Road to Nobel Prize".
