TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Independent music event Synchronize Fest is committed to bringing together the archipelago’s different music genres, including dangdut, by adding Rhoma Irama-led Soneta Group to its line up. “The concept is to introduce local bands,” the festival’s director David Karto told a press conference on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
Rhoma Irama and his Soneta group will perform in the second day of the festival on Saturday, October 29, along with other performers, such as The Milo, The Adams, Bonita & The Hus Band, Dead Vertical as well as The Kuda. “The event will encourage indie artists to arrive, exist in Indonesian music [industry],” said Rhoma Irama, the man dubbed as the King of Dangdut.
David, also a managing director of indie record label Demajors, said the festival is not only about music but also musicians’ movement to boost local music industry.
Synchronize Fest will be held for the first time on October 28-30, 2016, at Gambir Expo, Kemayoran. As many as 104 local performers have confirmed their participation.
