BMKG Issues Warning for Showers,Thunderstorms for Greater Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early extreme weather warning for the Greater Jakarta region on Sunday, June 19, 2016 - effective on Sunday evening.
BMKG's Deputy for Climatology, Yunus S. Swarinoto said through a press release that moderate-to-heavy showers with thunders and strong-winds have been predicted for South Bekasi, Bojong Kulur, Jatiwarna, and Bojongmenteng. "These showers and thunderstorms are expected to begin at around 15:45, Western Indonesia Time (WIB)," said Swarinoto on Sunday, June 19, 2016.
Swarinoto said that the heavy showers are expected to last well into the evening. "Heavy precipitation in these areas are expected to continue until 18:45 WIB," he said.
BMKG also said that similar conditions are expected to spread towards other areas as the evening progresses, with showers forecasted for Cipayung, Ciracas, Kramat Jati, Pasar Minggu, Pasar Rebo, Halim Perdana Kusuma, Duren Sawit, Makasar, Kelapa Dua, Cibubur, Cipinang, Pondok Kelapa, East Pejaten, Pancoran, Mampang, Jatinegara, Setiabudi, Tanah Abang, Kebayoran Baru, Jagakarsa, and its' immediate vicinities.
