TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported that a 6.6-magnitude earthquake has occurred at 2:15 a.m., about 126 km northwest of Ternate, Maluku. The epicenter of the quake was 58 km deep.
“Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency [BMKG] has informed the quake to residents, there is no tsunami danger,” said the Head of Information and Data Center and Public Relations of BNPB Sutopo Purwo Nugroho on a written statement on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.
The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) continues to monitor the impact of the quake. No reports of casualties nor sign of damage to buildings yet.
