TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, Yohana Yambise, regrets the antics of Masinton Pasaribu, member of the House of Representatives of Indonesian Democratic Struggle Party who have allegedly hit Dita Aditia, his expert staff.
“I’m very upset about it as it is against my plan to build a system for prevention of violence against women,” said Yohana at Istana Merdeka Complex, Wednesday, February 3, 2016.
According to Yohana, the alleged Masinton’s antics shows that he still has a view of a male-dominated world. Yohanna said that the way of thinking could lead to violence against women. “It still happens in Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua,”
Yohana added that she will let him off the hook. She will send a written warning to Masinton. “Regarding his dismissal, I will let the House’s Ethics Council to decide,” said Yohana.
At the House of Representatives, Masinton case had been reported to the House’s Etchics Council (MKD). Dita has also brought this case forward to the police and has asked for assistance from APIK Legal Aid Institute.
On Thursday night, January 21, 2016, Dita was picked-up by Masinton at Camden Bar, Cikini. Dita said that at that time there were only Dita and Masinton, who were in the driving seat, in the car. They exchanged words while traveling with the car. Masinton’s left hand suddenly hit Dita’s face twice.
Masinton plays down the accusation. He said that he picked-up Dita – who according to him was drunk – to be brought home.
According to Masinton, they were heading toward Cawang to brought Dita home when suddenly Dita pulled the steering weel. Other Masinton’s expert staff, Abraham, tip Dita’s hand on reflex, but the hand stroked her face.
