TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Indonesian traditional cuisine including rames rice, meatball, various soto (Betawi, Kudus, Lamongan), satay, and asinan are loved by foreign tourists visiting the city of Jakarta.
“Many foreign tourist visits Jakarta to come to our restaurant (Roemah Kuliner) to enjoy Indonesian traditional cuisines,” Cinema 21 Food and Beverage Director Dody Suhartono said in Jakarta on Monday, October 12.
Dody said that in the restaurant located on the historical Metropole building, people can easily find Indonesian cuisines from various regions.
“The foods we serve are authentic and do not use MSG,” said Dody. He chooses to boil natural broths which requires around seven hours.
The restaurant also serves authentic cuisines from the past, such as puding talam duku, puding talam jagung and icy gruel.
Dody expect with foods, visitors can reminisce their past in the restaurant.
The restaurant serves menus from all islands in Indonesia, including Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and more.
“The most unique menu is sayur bunga pepaya (papaya flower vegetable), which has been processed in such ways that it no longer tasted bitter,” said Dody.
Previously, culinary expert William Wongso estimates that in the near future, the culinary world will move to Indonesia.
“The mindset of the world community is different now. Society has tried various flavors and within a short period of time, I predict it will move to our country,” said William.
