TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo in the National Development Planning Council (Musrembangnas) on April 29 proposed to deliver Rp100 billion fund for each regency/city for infrastructure development. In response to such promise, several regions in South Sulawesi claimed to have prepared their programs.
Tana Toraja Regent, Theofilus Allorerung, welcome the notion of infrastructure development budget. "We are ready to run the budget. However, there must be a clear instruction on how to use the budget," he told Tempo.
As for the prerequisites such as management, corruption index, region size, and population, Theofilus claimed that Tana Toraja is ready.
Similar optimism was also expressed by Selayar Regent, Syahrir Wahab, saying that the regeny is set to meet the indicator. “We will prepare all the prerequisites in order to make Selayar one of the beneficiaries," he said.
South Sulawesi Governor, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, has yet commented on the matter. Instead he encouraged the government to meet its end of the deal and underlined that it should not be a mere promise.
