TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A montage of old motorbikes is displayed on a screen, depicting William Shakespeare’s tragedy. The series of pictures also cast other forms, such as flags, crowds, and speakers.

The montage, the brainchild of artist Eldwin Pradipta, appeared every minute on a screen. The artwork, titled Adaptation, was on display in  “Karyawisata” exhibition along with the artworks of five other artists from Bandung—Aulia Yeru, Irfan Hendrian, Nomas Kurnia, Theo F. Hutabarat and Zaldy Armansyah Aulia Yeru, Irfan Hendrian, Nomas Kurnia, Theo F. Hutabarat, dan Zaldy Armansyah held by Jogja Contemporary at the Jogja National Museum from April 12-28, 2015.

In “Karyawisata” exhibition, Eldwin learned and interacted with other artists from Yogyakarta. Eldwin also said he was once fretful that his artwork would not be understandable. “My artwork had so far been only displayed in contemporary galleries with a limited audience,” he said on Monday.

Eldwin then made contact with a multimedia artist from Yogyakarta, Jompet Kuswidananto. He later expressed his interest in Jompet’s creative process, such as when he mixed and combined traditional items. The two artists also have one thing in common: Jompet says his artworks are often misunderstood by people.
