TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Transportation Ministry will audit the security standards of Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, Pekanbaru, as the airport authorities are deemed negligent in the incident involving Mario Steve Ambarita, 21, who snuck into the wheel cavity of a Garuda Indonesia airplane flying from Pekanbaru to Jakarta on Tuesday.
"Only for Pekanbaru. Audit until the end of this week,” said Yurlis Hasibuan, the ministry’s director for flight security, on Wednesday.
Previously, Mario snuck into Garuda Indonesia flight GA 177 on Tuesday. He jumped over the fence and burst into Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, Pekanbaru, and got into the wheel cavity. He was said to be bounced off from the aircraft’s jetblash. However, he managed to get back in the airplane when it was at the end of runway 18.
Mario was just discovered after he got off the wheel cavity of the airplane on Tuesday at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta, at 16:57 p.m., with his ears bleeding. Mario is currently under investigation at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Authority office.
