TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rain in the past two weeks in Sarolangun Regency, Jambi province has not only caused floods but also landslide in several places.
At least four villages in Limun district in the regency have been isolated.
“Floods have receded but roads are still cut off because of the landslides. We have asked for the aids of heavy machines since last night (Thursday night, March 26 2015),” said Head of Sarolangun Disaster Mitigation Agency Ibnu Kasir on Friday, March 27, 2015.
The four villages that were hit by the landslide since Thursday are Berkun, Maribung, Mersip, and Napal Melintang.
BPBD Sarolangun also recorded at least 11 hits were hit by floods and 30 places were hit by landslides. As a result, roads were cut off.
In the meantime, Head of Sarolangun Transporation Agency Arbain said that to remove landslide materials such as muds and tress that blocked the streets, the agency had deployed heavy machines to the landslide sites since Thursday evening.
