TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Various kinds of foods that usually found in small food stalls are turned into a five-star gourmet foods in the hands of Dade Akbar Ramadhan. Dade creatively dresses simple dishes into attractive and tempting foods.
“Who says Indonesian foods can not served in styles like food gourmet found in the overseas hotels? Indonesian foods are extraordinary, the ingredients and flavors are more colorful,” said Dade as interviewed at his office on Jalan Proklamasi 46, Central Jakarta.
Dade, who is an art director of an advertising agency uploads the photos of attractivele-dressed dishes on his Instagram account @warteggourmet. He has worked on many kinds of foods including grilled rastrelligers, poached eggs, sauted tempe. The foods are actually Dade’s lunch package for the day.
Dade initiated the Warteg Gourmet after finding that some of Indonesian people are reluctant to have meal in the warteg as it is considered as ‘less prestigious’. Those kind of people, according to Dade should spend some time living overseas, especially Europe where meals are mostly served cold and have less flavors.
Starting from October 2014, Dade has tried to restore the image of warteg meals by modifying its serving. A photo of a dish consisting of rice-poached egg-beef sprinkles-soya sauce becomes the most-admired by Instagram users.
