TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has responded to allegations that Joko Widodo had misused the education aid for Surakartans (BPMKS) when he was the mayor of Solo in 2010.
KPK deputy chief Adnand Pandu Praja said the commission had collected data related to the allegations and found that Jokowi was did not commit corruption.
"It is clear that Jokowi was not involved in the education aid graft," he said. Pandu made this statement in response to a report received by the KPK on August 20, 2012, which alleged that Joko Widodo was involved in a graft case. The report was lodged by a group dubbing itself as Save Solo, Save Jakarta, Save Indonesia Team.
Earlier, House deputy speaker Fadli Zon said he would immediately follow up reports on legal cases allegedly implicating president-elect Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and summon officials from the KPK and Supreme Court.
Fadli made the move following reports by Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, a daughter of former president Soekarno, who had called for the delay of Jokowi's inauguration as the country's ruler due to the legal problems she alleged involving Jokowi.
