TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ita Magdalena have worked hard for the past year in leading her team’s preparation to perform theatrical play ‘I La Galigo’, an epic mythology originated from South Sulawesi. She worked hard for the sake of cultural mission, value of humanity, and peace. She believed that her theatrical play is a peace mission that she will carry throughout the world.

The peace mission becomes the highlight in overwriting the image of violence which is now existing in Makassar and other parts of the world. Dias Pradimara, a history lecturer of Hasanudin University, said that violence is not only about war and fights, but also those which are happened in households.

“We have to erase violence as our option to act,” said Dias during the “ Dissemination of the World Longest Play Script of the Memory of The World (MoW) I La Galigo Goes to Germany 2014” in Hasanuddin University building on Friday, last week.

I La Galigo’ will also be performed in Jakarta and several cities in Germany. The Bavarian country is chosen based on assumption that the country is currently developing new streams. The scholars in the country is said to be seeking new political models that are more polite and less violent.

“The other reason is that Germany has many facilities for art performances,” said Ita.

‘I La Galigo’ mainly depicts the life story of six generations of the upper-world Gods (Botting Langiq) and underworld Gods (Pertiwi). According to Professor Nurhayati Rahman of Hasanudin University, I La Galigo, who is the main character on the play, spread teachings that all the tribes in the Archipelago are relatives because all came from the same ancestor, the Sawerigading. There are also love stories included in the play, wrapped up with peace missions.

“Before the United States of America introduced theory of conflict management, La Galigo has mentioned it,” said Nurhayati.

Next, I La Galigo is planned to be performed in public area in Andi Mattalatta Stadium, on September 27.

There will also be exhibitions of culture, crafts, and culinary event.
