TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2014 Toba Lake Festival to be held September 17-21 will display the longest woven fabric of Ulos with reaching almost 500 meters in length.

"As the Governor of North Sumatra, I keep requesting the North Sumatra Tourism Department and the district/city government’s host to continue making creative events in the Toba Lake Festival.  The woven fabrics of Ulos is one of the latest events," North Sumatran Governor H. Gatot Pujo Nugroho, said in a statement yesterday.

The Toba Lake Festival was held in Jakarta, September 4 by the Ministry of Economic Tourism and Creative.

Gatot said that the Toba Lake Festival event is a means of promoting the cultural  and natural tourism objects in the area of Toba Lake, North Sumatra.

That way, North Sumatra hopes to increase the domestic and foreign tourists visits. The increase in the tourism visit will automatically increase the community income, welfare and help the government to accelerate development.

Based on the data of the North Sumatra’s Central Body Stats, foreign tourists' visits to North Sumatra within the past five years has climbed up. "The elevation in arrival occured in all countries," Gatot said.

Deputy Toba Regent, Samosir Liberty Pasaribu, explained that the 2014 Toba Lake Festival will be focused in four locations: TB Center, Sisingamangaraja Field, Del School and Pier.

On the Toba Lake Festival, the district government of Toba Samosir as the host, among others will hold an art-and-culture activity show that consist of photoraphy contest, Toba Samosir cruise destination, trail adventure motor offroad, traditional games, paragliding and a 10km-comunity-swimming contest.

The Head of Toursim Department of North Sumatra, E. Marbun, said reporters from seven foreign media are invited to the Toba Lake Festival for overseas promotion of the Toba Lake Festival.
