TEMPO.CO, London - Arsenal has agreed on letting go of Captain Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona in a 15-million pounds transfer fee. BBC reported that Vermaelen will only have to agree to personal agreement with the Catalans and pass the medical examination.
The Belgian international player was also targeted by Manchester United. However, the Red Devils could not agree on Arsenal’s demand to receive a player as part of the deal.
Vermaelen joined Arsenal from Ajax in 2009 and has made 150 appearances in all competitions. The 28-year-old becomes the Catalan’s second signing for center-back this summer after Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia.
