TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lenovo is becoming a Chinese cellphone manufacturer that is considered to be aggressive. Lenovo is eager to work on the global market together with it’s countrymen brand, such as HTC, Huawei, ZTE and Xiaomi.
In creating a product, Lenovo tries to follow the market trend so that the device sold will become an ideal product suitable to the community’s desire.
“What needs to be considered is the screen size trend between 4 to 5 inches,” MIDH Business Head Lenovo Indonesia Agus Sugiharto said Monday, July 21, 2014.
He said that the kind of screen size is very fit to be grasped because it is not too small nor too big. It is also considered to be very ideal for Asians' hands.
Agus also mentioned that a cellphone with a much smaller screen is predicted to be difficult to compete globally. On the contrary, bigger screen makes users feeling uncomfortable to place it in their pockets.
The features and applications made by third parties or digital developers also played an important role. “This is a part of an ecosystem to create a solution for users,” Agus said in a statement.
Lenovo has not partnered with any local application developers yet. Agus mentioned that later on in the future, Lenovo will partner with developers from various countries.
In Indonesia, Lenovo claimed their market share in the second rank for a smartphone category. In this second quarter, Lenovo’s market share reaches 8.6 percent. “Our target is to reach 10 percent by the end of the year,” Agus said.
