Banking Expo to Kick Off in August

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Federation of Private Domestic Banks (Perbanas) will be holding the fourth Indonesia Banking Expo (IBEX) on August 28 to 30 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), as reported by Antara News.

Perbanas chairman Sigit Pramono said the expo would primarily discuss the banking sector’s active role in encouraging the development of the import substitution industry. A number of seminars and workshops on the theme will be held during the event.

Sigit said that Perbanas had decided to raise the issue, as the banking industry was keen to help the government decrease the widening trade deficit by empowering the downstream industry.

“We want to push the growth of the import substitution industry. This will help improve our trade balance,” he said.

The exhibition will be held in cooperation with Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
