TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama acknowledged that he is pleased with the closure of a night club called Stadium Discotheque on Jalan Mangga Besar, West Jakarta, as reported by Antara News.
"Finally, Stadium Discotheque has been closed down," stated Ahok at City Hall on Tuesday.
According to Ahok, the night club was shut down because it had violated a rule that had been agreed with the Jakarta Provincial Government. The violation was drug transactions in the night club.
"We have found two drugs cases. That is why we shut down the club," he uttered.
Ahok also explained that the Jakarta Provincial Government is cooperating with Indonesian Police Crime Unit to monitor drugs transaction in some night clubs in Jakarta.
"I will not hesitate to shut the night clubs down if drugs were found," he asserted.
Stadium Discotheque was shut down some time ago following the death of a policeman from South Minahasa Resort Police, Brigadier "J" (22), due to drug overdose. Although he had been rushed to Husada Hospital, West Jakarta, his life could not be saved. It is believed that "J" was having a drug party with his three colleagues in the night club.
