TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry held the annual Archipelago Bamboo Festival in Lampung. The event was held for the eighth times in the front yard of Pringsewu Regent Office. During the event, the Indonesian World Museum Record (MURI) was invited to record an attempt of breaking the previous mass bamboo instrument play's record.
Musicians involved in the festival including bamboo flute group from Enrekang, South Sulawesi, traditional music group from Purbalingga, Cethik on the Street from Bandar Lampung, jazz music groups Jasstik and Krakatau Band.
In addition to the traditional musicians, famous Indonesian musicians from Jakarta were also invited. All performed music performance using bamboo instruments on the open-air stage.
"So far, the Archipelago Bamboo Music Festival had always been held indoor in a building or luxurious hotels. This year, the grand event is held outdoor on a big stage in Pemda Pringsewu open field," said Pringsewu Regent, Sujadi.
Meanwhile, the record breaking attempt of mass bamboo instruments play was done by 400 people playing bamboo gamelan simultaneously during the event. There were a thousand of bamboo cannons enliven the festival that was also wrapped with bamboo handicraft and culinary exhibition.
