TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The British police are investigating 25 schools in Birmingham after receiving reports of a hardline Islamic push into public schools, which saw boards taken over by religious leaders and secular principals being sacked.
Birmingham City Council received at least 200 reports from school staff and parents about the alleged 'Trojan Horse' operation, which causes leadership changes, and the curriculum shaped by an Islamic agenda.
The details were revealed in an anonymous letter detailing four schools in which Islamic leaders had control and brought their religious principles into classrooms, including the separation of boys and girls, bans on sex education and the bullying of non-Muslim staff.
There is also report of a school that spent 70,000 pounds for loudspeakers to call pupils to prayers.
David Cameron said that the government will not accept any school being run by extremists or promoting extremist views as they could push young people towards radical behaviour.
