TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Supreme Auditor Agency (BPK) member Ali Masyur Musa said that the environmental audit for Citarum watershed area (DAS) in West Java has been completed and submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR).
"As many as 17 companies violated environmental regulation and have been reported to the police. I can't mention names but they violated waste discharge standards," he said yesterday during a lecture at Paryahyangan University in Bandung.
Ali had confirmed that state losses were incurred due to environmental damages in Citarum watershed area but refused to provide details. Along with the audit report, BPK also urged the law enforcers to take actions against the 17 companies.
The most severe damages were found in Majalengka and Baleendah, Bandung. The audit report contains recommendations about new spatial planning in the area to prevent further damages and to restore the upstream area.
