TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) gave positive response to double-decker tour buses in Jakarta. The PHRI chairwoman Wiryanti Sukamdani said Jakarta as a metropolitan city needs that kind of tour bus. "They could make people who are just passing by to take the tour bus and go around the city a little bit longer," said Wiryanti on Sunday.
According to Wiryanti, similar buses can be found in other metropolitan cities in Singapore. They are usually used by tourists to go travel around town and know more about tourist sites.
Wiryanti said hotels and restaurants in Jakarta will definitely promote those buses to their customers. "We will promote them if they are free," she said.
The double-decker tour buses will begin operation today. There are five buses that can take up to 60 passengers and they will be provided in eight shelters which are Bundaran HI, Museum Nasional (National Museum), ANZ Bank, Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (Jakarta Art Building), Masjid Istiqlal (Istiqlal Mosque), Istana Negara (State Palace), Balai Kota (City Hall), and Sarinah Mall.
