TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Karate Federation (Forki) is ready to send 28 of its athletes to compete in the 2013 Finnish Open Cup Championship which will be held in Tampere, Finland, on August 31 to September 1.

"We are targeting three gold medals," said the General Chairman of Forki, Herdardji Soepandji at the inaugural ceremony in Senayan, Jakarta yesterday. The medals are expected from men's kumite category and men's kata group.

Imam Tauhid, Hendro Salim and the Premier League World Karate Federation gold medalist Faizal Zainuddin will fight in men's kumite category. Meanwhile, Aswar, Faizal Zainuddin and Fidelys Lolobua will compete in men's kata group.

Coach Omita Olga Ompi is hoping that women's kata group will be able to contribute medals. "The competition is tight in women's kata category," she said.

According to Hendardji, the Finland competition will be a warming up for the athletes to welcome ISG and Myanmar SEA Games.
