TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - State-owned Indonesian Flight Navigation Service or AirNav Indonesia has directed 52,567 aircraft movements, both take-offs, landings, and overflights during the Eid homecoming flow from April 3 to 15, 2024. The data was collected from both domestic and international flights.
“[The data was] collected from 51 AirNav branch posts throughout Indonesia,” said Director of AirNav Indonesia Polana B. Pramesti in a written statement on Tuesday, April 17.
Polana said the AirNav Soekarno-Hatta Airport Branch had handled 13,814 aircraft movements with a daily average of 1,062 movements.
“Praise to be God, there have been no incidents due to negligence on the part of the ATC (Air Traffic Controller) officers until now,” she said.
Polana explained that apart from ensuring smooth and efficient flights, AirNav Indonesia has a role to play in keeping Indonesia's airspace free of hazards such as hot air balloons, volcanic dust, and other objects dangerous to flights.
According to her, pilot reports (PIREP) of illegal hot air balloon disturbances have decreased significantly during this year's mass exodus period compared to previous years.
“This is a testament to the hard work and good synergy of all stakeholders, such as the Airport Authority, the city/regency government, the police, the Indonesian Military (TNI), and religious leaders, to raise citizens' awareness about the dangers of illegal hot air balloons to aviation,” she remarked.
Polana hoped that the smoothness, safety, and order of the 2024 Eid homecoming period could be sustained and well-maintained and that all parties would continue to work together to achieve this.
