TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform stated that the transferred civil servants are scheduled to start working in the new capital city Nusantara (IKN) in October 2024.

The ministry's Deputy for Bureaucratic Reform, Apparatus Accountability, and Supervision Erwan Agus Purwanto stated that the transfer of civil servants to the new capital is adjusted to the shift to the new government.

"During the inauguration of elected president and vice president, in October, civil servants would supposedly already be there," he stated on Wednesday.

Purwanto noted that the government was still holding discussions on the special allowances for civil servants transferred to Nusantara by taking into account the country's fiscal capacity.

"The special allowances for first batch of civil servants, who will move to Nusantara, will be announced later," he remarked.

He noted that the planning for the transfer of civil servants is dynamic in nature, as it takes into account the on-field conditions. To this end, if the target still cannot be achieved, and it will be adjusted to the on-field needs.

Earlier, Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas stated that the number of civil servants to be transferred to the new capital Nusantara in the first batch totaled 6,000, a revised figure from 11,916 people earlier.

"In total, initially, there were 11,916 that would be transferred. However, since the buildings there are only ready for (accommodating) 6,000 people, there will be 6,000 people who will be transferred first," the minister remarked in Semarang, Central Java, on Tuesday (February 20).

He explained that currently, in Nusantara, there are 47 towers, and one of them has 60 units of housing for civil servants, Indonesian Military (TNI) officers, National Police (Polri) officers, and Echelon I officials.
