20 December 2023 13:51 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaAs the Christmas and New Year holidays are just around the corner, many people may have planned to spend their year-end getaways with family or friends. If you are considering a festive vacation abroad, Singapore is definitely worth a visit.

The Lion City offers a range of attractions during the holiday season that are sure to leave you feeling merry and bright. According to the official tourism website Visit Singapore, Christmas and New Year's are big celebrations in the Lion City.

Here are seven tourist sites to check out in Singapore:

1. Orchard Road

Every Christmas and New Year, this famous shopping belt transforms into a magical winter wonderland, complete with festive decorations and illuminations. You will be filled with joy as you stroll along this ‘Great Street', which is often enlivened by various performances, such as buskers, live music, Christmas carols, and dance performances.

2. Christmas Wonderland

Spectacular light shows and exciting spectacles await you at Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay. This is the perfect place to enjoy Yule-themed festivities, with various attractions and carnivals spread across three different zones: Supertree Grove, Frosty's Fairground, and Gingerbread Grove.

3. Mariana Bay

Mariana Bay is the perfect place to ring in the New Year in Singapore. The countdown stands as one of the island’s most iconic celebrations, with live music performances and dazzling bursts of fireworks lighting up the night.

4. Ice Magic: Winter Wonderland

Ice Magic: Winter Wonderland is Asia’s largest touring pop-up winter playground situated in Bayfront Event Space. This year’s edition features a new eight-meter merry-go-round on ice, a double-lane couple ice slide, and a six-meter-high snow slope for visitors to sled down. There will also be a Winter Food Village with Christmassy treats, such as Swiss Rosti

5. Changi Festive Village

During the festive season, Changi Airport is transformed into a candy-themed playground with various entertainment facilities, including snow slides, sledding, candy snow houses, go-kart tracks, and many other games. The highlight will be the Candy Carnival at the Terminal 3 departures hall, featuring a seven-meter tall cupcake-shaped Ferris wheel.

6. Resort World Sentosa

Located off the southern coast of Singapore, Resort World Sentosa is the perfect destination for a vacation with the kids. In late 2023, the Superstar Christmas Festival will feature musical concerts by many local and international singers. There will also be candlelight concerts and dazzling light displays from a ten-meter Christmas tree.

7. S.E.A Aquarium

S.E.A Aquarium is known as Singapore’s most breathtaking marine haven. This year, it collaborates with the neurodiverse multidisciplinary collective, Superhero Me, to present Christmas Oddysea, a stunning installation of a Christmas home for sea creatures. The event runs only through January 7, 2024.

Another event at the S.E.A. Aquarium includes the Minmed Cycle Pop-up, where you can get a heart-pumping cardio workout while watching manta rays and hammerhead sharks glide by.
