TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several cultural and entertainment events are set to be held this weekend, August 26-27, 2023. For this weekend's agenda, Tempo English has compiled events including the Kitesurfing Exhibition in Yogyakarta, Soapbox Car racing in Bandung, Jogja Fashion Carnival in Yogyakarta, and the upcoming Asian Sound Syndicate 2023 in Jakarta.

Check out below the complete list of the events for this weekend:

1. The International Kitesurfing Exhibition 2023

Yogyakarta will host the International Kitesurfing Exhibition 2023 in the Depok Beach Lagoon, Parangtritis, Yogyakarta on August 26-27, 2023. Kitesurfing is an extreme wind-powered surface watersport using a kite and a board to move across the water.

The participants of this event came from across the globe, including Indonesia, Russia, the Netherlands, Lithuania, the UK, and a number of Asian countries.

2. Bandung Soapbox Car Race

After a 35-year-long vacuum, Bandung will hold another Soapbox Car Race at Diponegoro Road near the iconic Gedung Sate on August 25-27, 2023. The track will start from the road across the Geology Museum to the Islamic Preaching Center.

The race will start tomorrow, August 26, with current participants amounting to 90 people. On Sunday, August 27, 2023, the event will be enlivened with a soapbox car festival and a number of non-race contests.

3. Jogja Fashion Carnival

To commemorate the 78th Indonesian Independence Day, Yogyakarta will hold the Jogja Fashion Carnival on Saturday, August 26, 2023, across Jl. Malioboro, Yogyakarta. With the theme of “Titis Ginaris Sunar Binabar”, the carnival will portray the beauty of Yogyakarta’s imaginary line across the South Coast to Mount Merapi. 

The carnival will exhibit local fashion talents, and invite two guest participants from Banyuwangi Ethno Carnival and Traya Art Center Solo

4. Asian Sound Syndicate Vol. 2

The highly anticipated music festival, Asian Sound Syndicate is set to hold Asian Sound Syndicate Vol. 2 with the theme “Tropical Ambience” in the West Parking area of the Jakarta International Expo on August 26-27, 2023.  

Citing the official Instagram account of the organizer, @asiansoundsyndicate.id, the two-day festival is packed with world-class Asian R&B and Hip Hop artists including the surprise guest, Agnez Mo, on August 26. Other artists include So Se Neon, the trio of DPR IAN, DPR CREAM, and DPR LIVE, as well as Ramengvrl and Sam Kim. The festival also invited K-pop groups iKON and Kep1er to greet their fans and perform on stage. The tickets could be obtained from Tiket.com as the official ticketing partner.
