Jokowi Passes Regulation on Child Protection

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on July 6, ratified the Presidential Regulation No.75/2020 on child protection and protection on child victims.
“The presidential regulation No.75/2020 asserts that every child in Indonesia, especially those who are victims of crime and child witnesses have the right to feel safe and have their rights fulfilled as constituted by the Law,” the president’s spokesperson in the field of law, Dini Purwono, wrote on Tuesday, July 28.
According to Dini, the Perpres enables the social and medical rehabilitation of the affected children from institutions and non-institutions. These children will also have their welfare, physical, and mental well being guaranteed by the state.
The child protection act also enables victims and witnesses to have the right to be updated about the development of their cases.
